Last night, my cousin and I took the blue hairs (we’ve jokingly called them this for years, and for whatever reason, they like it) to dinner for Mother’s Day so we can actually enjoy our own Mother’s Day on Sunday and shit.
That looks like a version of an English Cream Tea.
My mother knows EVERY cream tea shop in the country. Our Mother's Day way a few weeks ago.
It also had me wondering in this day and age of equality, why there's no equivalent term like "fatherfucker"? Doesn't hit the emotional home quite as hard I guess. Mothers are very special.
Well at least in the UK, as women aged (for men in was mostly just you went bald - like me) their hair lost colour but bad air from industry, nicotine, sunlight and hard water meant grey hair looked yellow. Horrible shades of yellow that looked dirty.
But hairdressers, now armed with a battery of new tools that emerged from the discovery of synthetic dye chemistry, found that their blue and violet tints would counteract the yellowing, acting as complimentary colours and shifting the yellow towards white and silver tones.
But the chemistry was still quite raw and variable and often they'd overdo the treatment and the hair would end up like blue or pink candy floss.
Rather than look upon it as a disaster the ever pragmatic older folks who had lived through the war looked upon it as a fun fashion statement and started asking the hairdressers to do it deliberately.
And thus was a new style trend born. And I'm glad to see you have it too! It's awesome.
The appreciation is unparalleled, and the threshold for tolerance questionable. A perfect balance for a memorable celebration. I hope you had an amazing day.
